Inclement Weather Policy

We reserve the right to delay or cancel the Center due to road conditions or other problems associate with inclement weather, such as hazardous roads, no electricity or water, flooding, etc. While our preschool normally follows the Putnam County School closing schedule, we may find it necessary, we will notify a television station (WSAZ) with any delays or cancellations of our program.

If the children are already present at the Center, the parents will be notified by phone and Facebook so they can prepare to pick up their children at the designated closing time. ** Please note it will read: Lighthouse Christian Academy and Daycare Center in Hurricane.** There are two Lighthouse Daycares in this area.

When Putnam County Schools is on a two-hour delay, there will be not Preschool Classes that Morning. After-school Programs will be open when Putnam/Cabell County Schools are closed (special fees apply), we will have buses run to the local Putnam schools during a two-hour delay. Breakfast will be served to those students before they are put on the bus. Cabell County children will be transported via church van.

Emergency Pick-up Policy

If there is an emergency and someone not on your child’s list must pick them up, a call must be made by the parent giving the name of the person. That person must enter the building using the entrance at the top of the hill or by ringing the doorbell at the Keyless Entry door on the East side of the building. They must present their driver’s license to the Business Office for clearance to pick up the child.

NOTE: A child will not be dismissed to anyone not on their list unless a note is provided by the parent or a phone call is received. If this happens in excess, that privilege will be withdrawn.
